The New York Times

Floundering in a sea of change: I still consider the New York Times to be the pinnacle of journalism, but is it floundering because of the collapse of the old guard, and “the cost structures and privileges of the old media are being swept away”?

I think he’s wrong that it’s in decline due to “liberal media bias”. That is just Paul Sheehan being bloodymindedly harsh to placate his conservative critics. However, it’s certainly true that traditional media is in decline. That is just the nature of the beast. There is a physical limit to how quickly you can produce paper copy, and it is far slower than the news cycles that can be produced via instant communication on the internet.
