Double clicking on Start -> Programs works one some of the computers but not others. Even if you can bring it up, the problem is that you still can't get access to C:\ as it is not listed under My Computer and typing C:\ explicitly in the address bar is refused (I just tried it).

You can also double-click on Start->Programs to get a windows explorer shell up and in focus without even typing your library barcode. From there you can type a URL to get web access or navigate using the Up button and double clicking to open whatever software you like.

It's great if everyone had their own laptop, but obviously for financial or practical reasons, that's not going to be an option for everyone...

I haven't been complaining to the uni's ICT group - I'm not sure what good that will do. I tried complaining about poor wifi access at SciTech library before and their response was less than helpful.

"the number of library card holders without Unikey accounts must be rather small"

Probably not as small as you think - what about all the high school students that pay $50 a year or something to use the library? Of course, high school students are exactly the kind of people likely to pull that kind of VBA prank :P
