New computer

It’s the new fin­an­cial year, and I’ve got a new desktop! It’s got the kit­chen sink:

Hmm. Wrong kit­chen sink. It looks like this:

It glows blue! And it’s fast. Here are just some specs to make you all drool:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz
  • Nvidia GeForce 8800 with 640MB memory
  • 2GB RAM (ok, this isn’t spec­tac­u­lar, but even with my hec­tic use and Win­dows Vista, I can’t ima­gine I’d be need­ing any more in the near future)
  • 500GB SATA II HD
  • TV tuner

I’ll be away to Mel­bourne for three days from Tues­day to Thursday, and I’ll have plenty to blog about when I get back! :)

Oh and I got my full driver’s licence today – another men­ace for you to watch out for next time you step out onto the street :P

Driver qualification handbook diagrams

The hand­book you need to read in pre­par­a­tion for the full licence test is writ­ten in a simple style, but I have a prob­lem with some of their pie charts. Here’s one:

Causes of Crashes

What they’ve done is they’ve broken down the pro­por­tions so that you have every pos­sible com­bin­a­tion of cause in each cat­egory. Maybe it’s easier for other people to under­stand but I just find it illo­gical. (I’d use a Venn dia­gram, but I’m not sure how many people under­stand those.)
